i’m about to hop in my warm
bed for a nap.
i just walked home from work in
the new snow with a distinct
bounce in my step, happily
humming along with harry,
michael, nat and bing on my ipod.
was i bouncing or floating across
the snow? i’m not sure, but it’s
amazing how the magical fall of
snow can transform this tired
droopy-eyed woman into an alert
playful little girl.
the crunch of pure white under
my feet…
the cold flakes dancing around my face…
the satisfying feeling of making new tracks..
the stinging, no numbing, wind that somehow
is not so bad…even the slightest bit
pleasant, when it carries white flakes in it.
my new warm boots make this whole
lovely, yet frigid, situation much more
enjoyable.
(thanks parents…you are so kind to me!!)
here are a few snapshots i got on my
6-block walk home from work.

a christmas tree graveyard.
have i told you how i feel about
christmas tree graveyards? i’ll save
it for another time. but this sad sad
image was made a bit brighter and
more beautiful when covered in a
fresh layer of snow.

west 73rd and columbus looking toward
central park with the sun rising just under
the trees.
dreamy, right?

the lights in the trees,
the snow on the ground,
the flakes in the air…
i can’t get enough!!!
all of you living where it’s arctic-cold
outside today, take note of lisa’s tips
for the day:
*under no circumstance should you
go outside without
1. chapstick on you lips
2. muffs on you ears
3. something warm and furry
on your feet. throw fashion to the
wind today. heidi klum would
be the first one in a big ugly hat, long
matrix trench coat, and chewbacca
boots. you know it’s true!!!
*at all times should the flap on your
mittens/fingerless gloves be pulled
over your fingers and in place doing
it’s job. today is neither the day to go
cindy lauper on me or sacrifice your
mitts to make a phone call out of doors.
*drink as much hot cocoa as possible
today. attempts to set a personal record.
**IF AT ALL POSSIBLE…
snuggle up close to someone.
i can already tell you i’m going
to have at least one snuggle session
with my dear roommate julia and one
at least one cates child.
now, abide by these handy tips and
you will have a lovely
colder-than-mr.freezefrombatman-day.

p.s. all of you in warm weather,
D O N O T call or text or email
or facebook or fax or skype us in the
arctic weather about how warm
and sunburned you are…
that’s just plain rude.
