nurse-fighter
no…
fire-nurse
no…
i’m still coming up with a name
for us.
there was a fire on the first floor
of my hospital… an actual fire,
not a drill.
it’s change of shift, so i go with
the day nurse to close the doors
and put the charts in the med
room. then i learned that we
have to take one of our unit’s
fire extinguishers off the wall and
take it
TO THE FIRE
what?
yep. a nurse from every unit/floor
must do this.
aren’t we supposed to move away
from the fire?
someone’s getting a good deal by
employing nurses as healers
AND firefighters!
if i were the nurse on the flaming
unit i’d be a little ticked to see
others in scrubs trying to fight
the flames instead of
steamy firefighters
isn’t that the reason the fire
was started?
oops…
i mean…
never mind!!
What if you called yourselves “NURSEMAN”? Also, I think you should be required to wear rubber scrubbs with boots and a hat. Could you attach hoses to yourselves like the thing you wear around your neck to check for a heartbeat? CRAP! What in the world is that thing called….all I can think of is kalidascope. Oh, yeah…and you should def install one of those fireman poles on your unit. I mean, if you have to do the work you should get the perks.
um, what?! did they tell you this information in the required fire safety info they are supposed to give you when you start emploment? obviously not or i’m sure we would have laughed over it already. i am quite shocked that chony hasn’t tried to employ its nurses as firefighters. i’m sure if they knew it was an option they would do it. and while it may seem morbid, i’m glad it was an actual fire and not a drill. those stupid drills all the time drive me crazy. good luck to you in your firefighting in hawaii. remember, pull the pin, aim at the base of the flames, and sweep from side to side.
